Family of Four Brings Joy to 70 Refugees

A family of four shows 70 Syrian refugees that hope still exists

War is all they saw, learned, and heard. Syria's children suffered unimaginable violations where the feeling of wanting the time to stop begins. But on the 8th of December, a family came together to show those children how "home" can exist where they are right now.

Fagr and her family took over a wide space in Al Mamzar Park in Dubai to spread out love and support for 70 Syrian refugees by entertaining those kids with all the fun activities any child would wish to practice.

Fareeda Amr, a 17-year-old member of the supportive family, said: " We realized how charity work and events that are carried for kids in need or poor people are mostly held in Ramadan, and barely any event takes place during the rest of the year. Don't they deserve to have fun days too like everyone else and without an occasion?"

"We aim to make such events monthly because those children deserve more. Events like this don't need an occasion to take place, so my family and I decided to take them for a day out to the park and get them gifts and food along with some fun," Amr Farouk, founder of the event, who was also organizing the event and making sure children were active and happy, told Online Journalism Blog.

"Our intention is to show those children that they do not differ from other kids in this world and draw a smile on their faces. We want this to be a memorable day for them by giving out hope," he added.

The family handled all the planning and organizing by themselves. They contacted the organization that helped them locate where the Syrian refugees lived and sent buses to the children's homes to and from the place of the event. All expenses of the 3-hour event where covered by the same family alone.

Program of the event started at 4 P.M with football and other sports that the kids suggested. Afterward, they sat for a meal that consisted of pastries, along with a cupcake and juice. Face paint was a must since the team thought of how kids get amused and enjoy choosing whatever character they wish to be drawn on their innocent faces. The day was finalized by distributing a memorable gift bag, full of support and happiness, for each child.

It was considered a very successful event that helped these kids live a day that they would never forget. Despite how simple it was, they let out a lot of deprived energy.
